Polish Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden - Center for the Preservation of Biological Diversity in Powsin will hire a Technical Worker at the Deer Breeding Facility in Kosewo Górne

Location: Agroecological Station, Kosewo Górne

Proposed salary: PLN 6000 gross.

Job Description: We are looking for a technical worker to work in deer farming. Deer are kept in large enclosures and live in semi-wild conditions. We offer a unique opportunity to work with these majestic animals in a picturesque environment.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Deer feeding: Feeding roughage and concentrate, feeding minerals.
  2. Animal watering: Systematic supply of water, maintaining cleanliness of drinkers.
  3. Maintenance of fences and gates: Taking care of the good condition of the breeding infrastructure.
  4. Operation of agricultural machinery: Maintain entrusted machinery and equipment in good working order.

Specific responsibilities:

  1. Observation of the health and behavior of deer: Monitor animals and report any abnormalities.
  2. Feeding, preparing feed and watering animals: Adapting the diet to the season and constant attention to the availability and freshness of water.
  3. Keeping the farm clean: Regular cleaning.
  4. Repair and maintenance of fences and gates: Maintain infrastructure in good working order.
  5. Repair and maintenance of equipment: Maintaining agricultural equipment in good working order.
  6. Operating the tractor, trailer and feed dispensers: Effective and safe use of agricultural equipment.
  7. Operate hay preparation and baling equipment: Harvesting and storing hay, operating farm machinery.
  8. Transporting and storing bales: Organization and maintenance of the feed store.

Requirements:

  • Ability to operate agricultural machinery.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
  • Independence, responsibility and commitment to assigned tasks.
  • Additional advantage will be:
  • Practical knowledge of working with deer
  • Experience working with large animals or in agriculture.
  • Education related to animal care or agriculture.

Other requirements:

  1. Adaptation to work in different weather conditions: Working outside in variable weather.
  2. Good physical condition: Ability to perform physically demanding work.

Health and safety requirements in accordance with Polish law:

  1. Adherence to safety rules: Follow health and safety guidelines when working with animals and machinery.
  2. Use of protective equipment: Use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  3. Health and safety training and machine operation: Regular participation in training, including safe operation of agricultural equipment.
  4. Knowledge of emergency procedures: Ability to act in emergency situations.
