Current educational workshops at PAN OB:
  1. Field educational activities for school and kindergarten groups

In the Garden, we conduct classes for interested people of different age groups. The classes are held mainly outdoors, so we ask participants to bring footwear appropriate for the season and clothing that won't get damaged too easily. We encourage you to plan a slightly longer stay in the Garden, so that after the classes you can spend time for recreation, photography and exploring other parts of the Garden.

Classes can be tailored to participants of different ages. In exceptional cases, it is possible to combine the content of two topics in one class, but subject to the limitation of the content provided.

Classes last up to 2 clock hours. This time includes all the breaks needed by the participants.

In 2025, we propose themes:

Academy of the Senses
Human senses were created as tools for learning about the natural environment at a time when vegetation was not just a background, but was the space of all human life. Nowadays their functions are somewhat reduced, because most people live in an artificial environment and in a completely different way than even a century ago.

Classes can be devoted to training single senses or address the entire sensory perception.

The conscious gardener
How to sow, plant, transplant; how to multiply and divide; how to take care of PLANTS. Classes include practical gardening exercises and, depending on the cognitive abilities of participants, topics such as composting, mixing substrates, the impact of gardening on the state of nature, invasive species, plants for the allergic

Phases of life
Dormancy, spring awakening, full bloom, time of maturity - observation of phenomena dependent on the seasons. Life cycles of plants of different species.

Among the mosses, horsetails and ferns
Recognition of spore-bearing plants, living conditions, importance in nature. Native and exotic species.

Plant Hunters
Native species, foreign species; human boundaries, natural boundaries, range limits - participants will understand these concepts and learn who the "plant hunters" were, where foreign species came to us from and why the Nagoya Protocol had to be signed as a result. We will also explain why it is not always allowed to transport plants across the border.

Properties of the leaves
Leaf blade, petiole, tissues - what is a leaf "woven" of? The class includes practical familiarization with the morphological and anatomical structure of leaves of different species and their functions. Participants test the mechanical strength of leaves, learn basic information about the process of decomposition. NOTE: during the class, participants use sharp tools - at the time of booking it is necessary to inform about contraindications, so that the instructors can prepare material that does not require the use of sharp tools.

If the climate changes...
What grew, what is growing, what may appear in the future? Participants will learn about plants that grew on the territory of present-day Poland in past eras, find out why they did not survive and why they can be grown here again. They will also learn about species that may form the plant cover after climate change.

Smart people live in the dirt? - cleanliness of nature
We will remind participants that the basic environment of human life is nature. Together we will try to discover why animals eat "from the ground" and sometimes together with the ground without harming their health. We will talk about the human microbiome and what threatens us and what does not. We will consider together whether there is "dirt" in nature.

Botanical garden - which is actually what?
During the class we will explain what a botanical garden is, how it functions and fulfills its tasks. And, above all, what these tasks are and who determines them. Participants will learn about the principles of protection ex situ, Examples of conservation activities and research work.

Fabrics, tissues, flax - where fibers in plants come from (basics of anatomy)
Modifications of plant organs
Systematic overview of the plant world
