In an article that appeared in the Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine, Marcin Kotowski of the PAN Botanical Garden - CZRB in Powsin, along with Zsolt Molnár and Lukasz Luczaj, provided detailed documentation of the population's perception of fungal ecology (https://ethnobiomed.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13002-021-00456-x).

The collected data made it possible to create collective descriptions of habitat preferences and a list of various macro-, meso- and micro-habitats of macrofungi described by respondents. The information obtained showed that local knowledge in principle does not differ from scientific knowledge, and can be used to formulate new scientific questions and theories.
