After the 1997 administrative reform. The then director for general affairs of the PAN Botanical Garden Wieslaw Gawryś initiated work on the creation of a regional Red List and later a Red Book of vascular plants of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.
2019-2020:
- continued to assign threat categories to species found in Mazowieckie province according to IUCN international guidelines;
- The last geobotanical "white spots" on the territory of the province (the former Ciechanow v., the Kurpiowska Forest, some areas of the Kozienicka Forest outside the reserves, etc.) were indicated;
- collected and preliminarily compiled data for the historical outline of floristic research in the lands of today's Mazovian province.
Scheduled for 2020, the closure of the Red List work was postponed due to the pandemic. Despite sanitary restrictions, verification of selected sites in the field was carried out. Work has also begun on an article containing the completed Red List, an analysis of the threat to individual plant groups according to the latest IUCN criteria, and an outline of the history of Mazovian floristics and conservation botany.
