- He graduated with a degree in biology in 1970 from the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences at A. Mickiewicz University.

- Degree of doctor of agricultural sciences In the field of horticulture-plant biotechnology in 1992, the title of the habilitation thesis " Regeneration of plants in in vitro cultures of some species of the family of Fabaceae."
- Title of professor of biological sciences in 1999. the proceedings were conducted by the Council of the Faculty of Biology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan
Course of professional work and major functions (scientific and organizational activities):
- He began his work in 1970 at the Department of Plant Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and since 1984 he has been a researcher at the PAN Botanical Garden - CZRB in Powsin. From 1986 to 2012 he was deputy director for scientific affairs except for trips abroad. He headed the Department of Experimental Plant Biology.
- He was a member of the Biotechnology Committee, the Botany Committee and the Physiology, Genetics and Plant Breeding Committee.
- Reviewer of MN and S.W. research projects, Fulbright Foundation projects and publications and publications (45 items).

- Polish Botanical Society - from 2004-2010 president, 2001-2004 treasurer, since 1995 member of the Presidium, 1995-2001 Chairman of the Section of in vitro tissue cultures, 1992-2001 vice-chairman of the Section of Cytology and Anatomy.

The main objective of the scientific work is to learn and use the morphogenetic abilities of the plant cell in its manipulation, and the objects of research are monocotyledonous, dicotyledonous and spore plants.
Scope of scientific achievements: Exploiting the morphogenetic abilities of plants at the haploid and diploid levels in manipulating their cells, tissues and organs in vitro, Plant Biotechnology.
- Obtaining hybrids of cereal plants (wheat x rye) and grasses (FestuLolio) using in vitro culture of immature hybrid embryos;
- To describe the morphogenetic abilities of common rye and selected grasses;
- Describing somatic embryogenesis for several species in the rye genus;
- To describe the somatic embryogenesis of coarse- and fine-seeded legumes;
- To describe the somatic embryogenesis of gentians in agar culture, cell suspension and protoplasts;
- Obtaining regenerants by genetic manipulation of gentian somatic cell protoplasts after transformation (indirect and direct ) and somatic hybridization (electrofusion);
- Description of the process of androgenesis (haploidization) and transformation of wheat using gene gun;
- Cryopreservation of plant material derived from in vitro cultures of seed and spore plants;
- To develop in vitro culture of gametophytes and sporophytes of mainly woody ferns in order to study their morphogenetic abilities and physiologically describe cell suspensions of selected species with attention to their metabolome.
