Winter Magic in the Garden
A botanical garden is often associated with a spring color palette, summer scents and golden autumn leaves. However, in winter it also delights with its unique charm. The winter garden exudes tranquility and mystery, offering a unique atmosphere that captivates every visitor.
Walking through the alleys of Poland's flora collection, you can admire evergreen coniferous plants - majestic spruces and firs, long-needled pines, limbers and dwarf pines. In the winter sunshine, these trees create an almost fairy-tale landscape, often decorated with a white feather of snow. Mountain plants, adapted to frosty conditions, are also part of the landscape. In natural habitats such as the Tatras, the Pieniny and the Sudetes, winters are sometimes longer and harsher.
In February, the first harbingers of spring can be spotted here - snowdrop and wolf laurel. Both of these species are under partial protection and herald the coming warmer days.
In the greenhouse, on the other hand, a tropical oasis awaits visitors in winter - a stark contrast between the cold outside and the warm, exotic climate inside. Palm trees, cacti, citrus, and colorful camellias bring to mind faraway countries and exotic travels.
Winter in the Garden is an excellent opportunity to spend time with loved ones, relax in the midst of nature and capture in photographs the subtle beauty of winter nature. A walk among snowy alleys or tropical plants is a moment of respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. An additional attraction of winter evenings is the Garden of Lights exhibition, which illuminates the space with thousands of colorful, magical illuminations until the end of February.
During the Christmas and New Year period, the Botanical Garden of the Polish Academy of Sciences becomes an ideal place for recuperation and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the city, busy schedules, giving respite in the surroundings and proximity to nature.
